Interstate-35 CSD Renovation & Additions

DCI Group is providing Construction Management services to complete two projects for the Interstate-35 Community School District. DCI is currently progressing through construction and preconstruction phases of these projects. Significant renovations and additions to the K-12 building are planned. Construction of the new CTE Maintenance Building began in June of 2017. This entails a 15,000SF pre-engineered metal building to house the new wood and metal shop with classroom space and an area for the school’s maintenance staff and supplies. The next phase of construction will include converting the current wood & metal shop space into the fine arts department with space for choir, high school and elementary band practice rooms, and staff offices. A 600-seat auditorium will be added for the fine arts productions and community events. These projects are taking place during occupied conditions, so strict logistics planning is required. Ruan II

DCI Group was hired as a Construction Manager at Risk to remodel 68,188 SF over four levels of the Ruan II building in Des Moines for AmeriHealth Caritas. The four level tenant improvement included demolition, conference rooms, offices, project room, cafeteria, training room, break rooms, reception area, and finish upgrades. The work was staged to allow daily operations for AmeriHealth Caritas functioning with little disruption. DCI Group also was responsible for furniture relocation and set up for the reconfiguration of staff throughout the space.

Cedar Rapids Community Center

As a Construction Manager at Risk for AmeriHealth Caritas, DCI Group fully renovated an existing 3,650 SF standalone building in Cedar Rapids for AmeriHealth Caritas Community Center for their clients. Beardsley Regional Stormwater Detention

The Beardsley Regional Stormwater Detention Facility for the City of Norwalk consists of mass grading and drainage improvements. There are two permanent pool detention ponds including the following: approximately 174,100 cubic yards of excavation, impervious clay seal, hauling and spreading excess excavation of approximately 156,000 cubic yards on adjacent commercial properties, approximately 78 linear feet of 6-foot by 6-foot RCBC, 68 linear feet of 8-foot by 5-foot RCBC, 6 linear feet of 42-inch RCAP, 9 RCP culverts varying from 15-inch to 24-inch diameter in open cut with area intakes, 9 manhole adjustments, 6 spillway structures, outlet structure, excavation, backfill, gabion lined drainage swales, rip-rap, erosion stone, erosion control, surface restoration, mobilization, traffic control, and miscellaneous work including cleanup. Development of Turnberry Road connecting Highway 28 to Colonial Drive is also planned for April 2017.

Prairie City Monroe Community School District Projects

DCI Group is providing Construction Management services to complete three projects for the Prairie City Monroe Community School District. DCI Group has provided pre-bond referendum and is currently progressing through construction and preconstruction phases of the projects. Significant renovations and additions to the Middle School and High School are planned, as well as major renovations to Monroe Elementary School. These projects are taking place during occupied conditions, so strict logistics planning is required.

Detention Facility Projects

ICIW BUILDING Y ADDITION

This project is currently in progress with an anticipated completion date of January 2017. It includes an addition to Building Y on the ICIW campus incorporating a cafeteria and classroom space.

IOWA STATE PENITENTIARY HUMIDITY CONTROL

We are currently completing construction documents for improvements related to humidity control on several buildings on the new campus. This project is scheduled to be complete late this year.

IOWA STATE PENITENTIARY JOHN BENNETT SKYLIGHT REPLACEMENT

Complete removal and replacement of large dayroom skylight in the John Bennett building. Project was on schedule in June 2016 while inmates occupied the space.

IOWA JUVENILE HOME MULTIPLE PROJECTS

DCI Group has completed several projects at the Iowa Juvenile Home in Toledo between 2011 and 2013. This includes security upgrades, fire alarm replacements, security electronics, water, sewer, and site concrete improvements.

220 SE 6th Street Office Building & Parking Ramp

 

As the Construction Manager at Risk, DCI Group is managing the construction of a 50,000 SF precast office building and four story precast parking structure. This project is on a green field urban site. In addition to the office and parking structure, DCI Group is also paving Elm Street and performing public improvements for the City of Des Moines which will be turned over at the end of the project. This project also includes the finishing of four tenant spaces in the building. DCI Group is also involved in the furniture selection and procurement for each tenant.

Iowa Veteran’s Home Dack Malloy

The Iowa Veterans Home Dack & Malloy Hall Renovation consisted of approximately 160,000 SF of renovation work was completed over three phases. The renovation work included 9 floors of extensive interior demolition and the build back of residence living and support spaces. The primary mission of this project was to convert double occupancy rooms to single occupancy rooms for residents as well as upgrade support spaces. The entire project was completed while maintaining occupied conditions. The project was completed in June of 2016 on schedule and on budget.

Indianola Community School District Projects

DCI Group has performed construction management agency services for the Indianola Community School District for several recent and ongoing projects. This includes recently completed projects at Whittier Elementary, Irving Elementary and two phases of a three phase Stadium project. Preconstruction efforts for all projects are complete and construction phases for Emerson Elementary, High School Addition and Renovation, and the final phase of the Stadium were completed in late 2015. These projects involved extensive interior demolition and remodel
to improve classroom and support spaces. The projects have very aggressive timelines to maintain school operations and some work is being conducted under occupied conditions. The preconstruction effort was conducted over 16 months and involved the building and execution of 9 different project bid documents.

Principal 801 Grand

The Principal Financial Group 801 Grand renovation is under way consisting of approximately 300,000 SF of renovation work completed over four phases. The renovation work includes 17 floors of extensive interior demolition and the build back of corporate office space, conference centers and client centers. Major revisions and improvements to mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems were completed as well. The 801 Grand building is the tallest high rise in Iowa consisting of 42 floors. DCI Group has managed work in the building from the basement levels to the 42nd floor over the last 5 years. The building is not only occupied by PFG business units, but multiple floors in the building are leased Class A tenants with high demands of not interrupting business operations. The entire project is being completed while maintaining occupied conditions with business operations going uninterrupted. The project is slated for completion in July of 2016 and is currently on schedule and on budget.
